Erling Haaland has made headlines by reaching a significant milestone as Erling Haaland matches Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal record for the fewest games needed to score 100 goals for a single club. Haaland achieved this feat during Manchester City’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal.
Haaland initially had 99 goals in 103 games and had the opportunity to claim the record outright, but he missed the chance during his 104th appearance in a 0-0 draw against Inter. However, in his 105th match, Haaland found the back of the net at the Etihad against Arsenal, tying Ronaldo’s record, which the Portuguese superstar set during his time with Real Madrid.
In doing so, Erling Haaland matches Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal record and also becomes the 19th player to score 100 goals for Manchester City, with Kevin De Bruyne being the last to hit that landmark back in April.
Haaland’s goal against Arsenal didn’t just see him match Ronaldo’s record; it also allowed him to break his scoring streak. He reached 10 goals in just five Premier League games this season, setting a new benchmark as no player has ever hit double figures so quickly. Haaland’s debut season in England previously saw him net 10 goals in six matches, equaling Micky Quinn’s record from the 1992/93 season.
